Members interested in expanding their knowledge and getting out of town for the weekend might want to consider the upcoming North Country International Fire Training Service. Better known as simply “Alburgh Fire School” by some of the older EMS members, this annual training school offers some great courses related to fire and EMS.
The fire school takes place is the small town of Alburgh, VT which is about an hour south of Montreal. The town of less than 2,000 converts to fire central for the weekend fire school, with firefighters and medics from New York, Vermont, Quebec and Ontario attending. The town’s small fire hall becomes a store with a number of vendors selling anything and everything fire and EMS related.
Follow the link below to get information on the one- and two-day courses being offered this year. In the past, EMS members have chipped in and rented rooms at a hotel and had dinner in Plattsburgh and made a fun weekend of it.
