A new gate was recently installed at Public Works, to better control access to the yards. In order to get into the yards, starting next week you will need to swipe an access card (not your EMS ID card) at the gate. Each vehicle will have a card on the RAM key ring (the cards will soon be replaced with more convenient key fobs.)
Once the card has been passed, the gate will remain open for 30 seconds. Once you are done in the yards, simply approach the gate. A sensor embedded in the asphalt will recognize a vehicle and open the gate.
Outside of normal business hours, the new gate will remain open and the chain link fence will be closed and padlocked. The keys to the padlock will remain on the RAM key and the usual process for unlocking the gate remain in effect.
